Vintec helps London school to manage asbestos
Shocking statistics such as 178 teachers dying from mesotheliomain in the last 25 years – one of the most aggressive forms of cancer linked to asbestos exposure – puts asbestos testing and management at the top of most schools health and safety list.
Thousands of schools were built between the 1930s and 1980s when asbestos was routinely used in ceilings, wall linings and pipe lagging. Schools and colleges currently have a legal responsibility to manage the presence of undamaged asbestos, rather than risk damaging it by removal, and provide proof of regular inspection.
The School
An original Grade 2 listed building, St Mary’s School has been established in Hampstead since 1926.
